Community Campaign 2024: Sleep In Heavenly Peace- No Kid Sleeps on The Floor in Our Town

The 2024 Community Campaign was successful as we raised over $34,000 for this year’s charity, Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP). The fundraiser, held from September 16th to 19th, featured a variety of exciting events including dress-up themes, grab bags, a 52-Club breakfast, a bake sale, raffle baskets, an airfare raffle, a lunch raffle, a bags tournament, pull tabs (sponsored by ABH), 50/50 raffles, the Forklift Olympics, and a group bunk bed build at the Sleep in Heavenly Peace facility!

Green Bay, WI

Our Green Bay office, along with several other LaForce locations across the United States, proudly supported Sleep in Heavenly Peace this year. SHP is a national organization with over 400 chapters, dedicated to building and providing twin and bunk beds for children aged 3-17 who don’t have a bed to sleep in. For this campaign, our Green Bay location partnered with the De Pere, Wisconsin chapter.

Fundraiser Schedule

Friday, September 13th: Campaign Kickoff!

On the Friday before Community Campaign Week, our employees set up raffle baskets they had spent weeks preparing, with items donated by each department. They also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and select which baskets they hoped to win.

Monday, September 16th: Beds, Bagels and Bingo!

Beds, Bagels, and Bingo! We officially kicked off campaign week on Monday with Beds, Bagels, and Bingo, sponsored by Hager. Dan Vermeulen, co-president of the Sleep in Heavenly Peace—De Pere Chapter, shared heartfelt stories about SHP’s mission and how community campaign week was going to impact the organization! Our employees participated in Word Bingo, and the first five winners earned prizes. After the speech, our team were treated to bagels from Big Apple Bagels!

Tuesday, September 17th: Time to Build Some Beds!

The day started with a morning bake sale, featuring an array of sweet treats donated by employees. The highly anticipated grab bags event followed, offering prizes for just one dollar a bag, with 1,000 bags up for grabs! In the afternoon, 90 employees gathered at the SHP facility to build 66 beds in just 4 hours.

Wednesday, September 18th: 52 Club, Wheel of Fortune, and Forklift Olympics!

Wednesday morning, members of the 52 Club enjoyed a delicious breakfast from Cheesecake Heaven, sponsored by Allegion. Once the breakfast concluded, our employees had the chance to win some prizes by spinning the wheel during the Wheel of Fortune event. This gave employees a chance to win some extra tickets, pull tabs, or make donations. In the afternoon, everyone gathered outside for the highly competitive Forklift Olympics, where our forklift-certified shop employees showcased their skills. They navigated obstacle courses and even competed to score a basket with the forklift, making for an exciting and fun-filled event!

Thursday, September 19th: Finale Lunch!

On our final day, we hosted a taco bar lunch from Konop sponsored by ASSA ABLOY! We announced all the raffle baskets and drawing winners during lunch, including airfare and 50/50. LaForce and our employees raised over $34,000 during the week to donate to Sleep in Heavenly Peace! It was an exciting and memorable way to conclude the 2024 Community Campaign.

Several of our locations had their own community campaigns, and some donated to their local Sleep in Heavenly Peace Chapter!

Austin

Our Austin location donated to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace—Austin Chapter. Our Austin employees participated in various weekly events, including mini golf, a water pong tournament, and tossing water balloons at the boss.

Minneapolis

Our Minneapolis location chose the Sleep in Heavenly Peace- Twin Cities Chapter as its charity. During the week, our Minneapolis employees participated in a bed-building project, and their group managed to build 45 beds during their shift. They also planned a ping-pong tournament and a breakfast!

Madison

Our Madison location donated to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace- Madison Chapter. Throughout the week, our Madison employees participated in various events. These events include Yahtzee, Dino-Bag and Dino-Ball tosses, Plinko, and Water Pong. They also did a sub sandwich bar during their final lunch on September 19th.  

Chicago

Our two Chicago locations donated to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace- Oak Forest Chapter. During their community campaign week, our employees participated in mini golf, ring toss, bozo buckets and a candy jar guessing game.

Indianapolis

Our Indianapolis location chose the Sleep in Heavenly Peace—Indianapolis Chapter as this year’s charity. Throughout the week, our Indianapolis team participated in various events, including a 50/50 raffle, North American Pro Football Pick ’em, bag toss, and the longest golf putt challenge.

Columbus

The Columbus location had a community campaign to serve the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. During the week, our Columbus employees participated in activities such as volunteering at the Mid-Ohio Market and hosting a canned food drive to provide for individuals battling food insecurity.

Cincinnati

Our Cincinnati location donated to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace—Cincinnati East Chapter. Our Cincinnati employees held a cornhole tournament, a 50/50 raffle and a company lunch.
