Community Campaign Raises Over $40,000 for Local Charities

The saying appears to be true; time flies when you’re having fun. Every fall, LaForce hosts a Community Campaign, a week to raise funds and awareness for local charities, which was held from September 11-14. Every LaForce employee was ready to have fun and support local charities!

Green Bay
This year the Green Bay office selected Eye Heart World as their beneficiary, an organization with the vision to create a community where sex trafficking is unable to thrive.

Friday (Sept. 7)

A preview day kicked off the fun, highlighting all the events employees could look forward to during the Community Campaign and hosted day one of the beloved grab bags, which are $1 bags containing items ranging from candy to toys to gift cards for local restaurants. There was also a one day only raffle where employees could enter to win a signed football by the Green Bay Packers.

Tuesday (Sept. 11)

Eye Heart World Founder Brian Russo joined LaForce for our kick-off lunch where employees were able to learn more about the organization and their mission. Last year’s beneficiary, Colton’s Cure was in attendance and updated employees on how LaForce’s $30,000+ donation helped the organization this past year.

Wednesday (Sept. 12)

A fresh take on an old game, LaForce’s version of Monopoly was a hit! Just like the full sized edition, the point of the game was to create the most monopolies on properties. Wednesday was the first-day employees could redeem their properties for prizes. With six different ways to win, the game was a success. At the end of the week, there were 15 people who had filled their boards with all the properties and were entered to win one of the six grand prizes.

Thursday (Sept. 13)

Early Thursday morning, members of the 52 Club were treated to a delicious breakfast. The 52 Club is comprised of employees who donate $52 or more a year to the campaign beneficiary. The fun didn’t stop there; anticipation built up for employees as the $1 grab bags returned. Within 30 minutes all 500+ bags were sold.

Friday (Sept. 14)

Friday brought the much-anticipated finale lunch where raffle winners were announced, and LaForce revealed to Eye Heart World and employees the total funds raised. All of the raffles were announced including the airfare raffle, where any LaForce employee could purchase a raffle ticket to be entered to win two tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. Additional raffles included a Yeti cooler, gas grill, tickets to see Lynyrd Skynyrd, a Kessler diamond necklace, gift certificates to local restaurants, a spa day, a plasma TV, $500 Visa gift card and more were drawn! A big shout out to our vendors and employees for donating to the raffle baskets!

The fun doesn’t stop in Green Bay, here is a quick recap of what went on throughout the week at each of our locations:

Appleton chose to benefit the Saving Paws Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a lifelong sanctuary for animals. The 52 Club ended up being a hit at the Appleton office; their fun continued with a bean bag toss and mystifying guessing candy jar.

Austin selected to support Austin Pets Alive, and raised funds through a variety of events, such as a bean bag tournament, an office jeans week and a game called “guess what’s in the jar.” Their success was reason enough for anyone to wag their tail.

The Cincinnati office had a great time creating prizes and involving their employees in a week full of fun! The office raised funds for Walleyes for Wounded Heroes through fundraisers such as a bake sale, raffle baskets, and games including “split the pot,” a jar guessing game and a cash raffle.

The Columbus office continued their annual support for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Jeans day, lunch passes, the 52 Club, and a large participation for the airfare raffle, all went into making the Columbus campaign a success!

The Detroit office played unique games such as “eyes on you,” which featured a pair of eyes that others had to match up to an employee, and “do you know me?” which allowed unknown facts to surface about their fellow employees. Their successful week resulted in a closer branch and support for Friends of Jacob.

The Madison office held circus-themed games such as “guess the weight,” “pool noodle javelin,” and “balloon pop.” This year, Madison chose to support the Badger Honor Flight for their Community Campaign.

Milwaukee chose Zachariah's Acres as their beneficiary, Milwaukee raised money through employees participating in jeans day, the company lunch, and raffles. Just as family is important to Zachariah's Acres, the Milwaukee branch values its community.

The Vernon Hills office spent their day playing outside while supporting PADS Lake County Homeless Shelter; grilling burgers and selling raffle tickets.

The Chicago chapter for ALS was Willowbrook’s recipient this year. The office raised funds to put towards the foundation and its goal of finding a cure for ALS. The Willowbrook office enjoyed some fun in the sun with a cookout and raffles.

The Warren office supported Gleaners Community Food Bank through the support of the 52 Club and selling airfare raffle tickets. With help from Warren and others, Gleaners is able to distribute approximately 96,000 meals a day.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2018 Community Campaign! We work each day with our communities in mind, LaForce strives to give back to our communities and encourages our employees to do the same.
